Mark B. Lewis
Mark B. Lewis is a seasoned investor, having financed expansion-stage and middle market companies across the United States. Since 2007, Mr. Lewis has been a member of the Advantage Capital Partners Investment Group, focused primarily upon sourcing, structuring and deploying flexible capital to companies located in low income communities (LICs). He has been responsible for more than 20 investments in Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, New York and Texas, aggregating more than $140 million of capital. These LIC investments have attracted over $85 million of additional follow-on capital from outside sources.
Over the years, Mr. Lewis has completed debt and equity transactions to companies in a wide range of industries, including technology, business services, food processing and manufacturing. Mr. Lewis has been a member of the board of directors of several Advantage Capital portfolio companies, including Appia Communications, GridApp Systems, Mid America Brick, Mason Manufacturing, Quick Study Radiology, and T&K Machine.
Prior to joining Advantage Capital, Mr. Lewis spent eight years with St. Louis-based private equity firm Two Rivers Associates and its predecessor firm, Gateway Associates. Preceding Two Rivers/Gateway, he worked at an investment banking and venture capital firm in New Jersey, financing early-stage information technology companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Mr. Lewis is a frequent public speaker on a range of financial topics. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, lecturing on private equity and venture capital finance.
Mr. Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Georgetown University, and an M.B.A. from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis.
