Principal

Tony Toups

‍Tony Toups is a Principal on the National Expansion Team at Advantage Capital, leading efforts to establish and sustain public/private state policies focused on creating access to capital for businesses in rural and low-income communities. He has successfully managed numerous efforts resulting in the deployment of over $3.5 billion to small businesses primarily in the Southeast.

Prior to joining Advantage Capital, Tony practiced law as a partner at the regional law firm of Adams and Reese and at Chaffe McCall in New Orleans. As an experienced litigator, he was national trial counsel for a large manufacturer, handling cases throughout the country. He is licensed in Louisiana and is a member of the bar of both the Supreme Court of the U.S. and the U.S. Tax Court. He maintains an AV Peer Rating from Martindale Hubble.

Tony currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity and as a Class Captain for Jesuit High School New Orleans. He has spoken at Georgetown University on impact and rural investing and mentored MBA candidates at its McDonough School of Business.

Tony is a graduate of Louisiana State University. He received his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and a B.A. in Journalism from the Manship School of Journalism. He also attended Tulane University.
